Wildlife Projects
I get a lot
of email asking what sort of work I do as a zoologist, so I thought
it would be useful to describe some of the wildlife projects I've
been involved with here:
Red-tailed
hawk nest monitoring (posted March 31, 2006)
Burrowing
owl habitat restoration (posted April 5, 2006; updated November
6, 2006)
Desert
Tortoise Conservation Research (posted April 21, 2006)
Zoology
Articles (AKA your homework)
I frequently
come across interesting and important news articles that I'll post
here. Consider this your homework for the evening...
Extinction:
Bye Bye, Birdie ... (posted August 7, 2006)
Bush Plan to
Gut Endangered Species Act Exposed (posted April 2, 2007): The Center
for Biological Diversity and Public Employees for Environmental
Responsibility have exposed a secret plan by the Bush administration
plan to gut the Endangered Species Act from top to bottom. The leaked
Bush plan made headlines across the country last including National
Public Radio, MSNBC, ABC, and Reuters, prompting editorial denouncements
by Newsday, Seattle Post-Intelligencer, New York Times, and the
Arizona Republic. For more information, see
the Center
for Biological Diversity's detailed analysis of how the draft
plan would cripple the Endangered Species Act.
